Chronology of cameras Zeiss Ikon - Voigtlander
A very good rangefinder, that does not please the eye!
During 1965, Zeiss Ikon bought Voigtländer. Several cameras are born from this joint venture, the most famous being the Icarex.
This Vitessa 1000 SR, introduced in 1968, is a particularly well constructed and attractive model: equipped with an accurate CDS-cell, the very good perspective of a Tessar 2,8/42 mm (mysteriously ressembling the Color Lanthar of the Voigtländer Vitessa 500 S), and above all a Prontor shutter with 1/1000th sec, a leaf shutter record!
Main characterisic: the advance lever is located om the bottom plate of the camera, which calls for the use of the original camera case.
The aesthetics on the contrary receive less applause: an almost exact rectangular box, from which the circular lens protrudes: obviously the technicians were more inspired than the designers!
The 1000 SR turns out to be pleasant and efficient in use: with its clear and precise viewfinder/rangefinder it delivers excellent results on the emulsion.
